Sevara Pan is a film critic, journalist, and curator working in the documentary field, often focusing on films and media projects that concern human rights, social justice, and activism.

She writes for such industry publications as Modern Times ReviewDocumentary Magazine of the International Documentary Association (IDA), and Cineuropa. She previously wrote for DOX, a leading international magazine for the European documentary film industry.

Since 2022, she has been part of the Activist Film Committee of Movies that Matter, an annual human rights film festival in The Hague, the Netherlands, and has curated independent film screenings in Berlin, Germany, and Tashkent, Uzbekistan. She collaborates with True Story, a UK-based independent documentary streaming platform, in programming a special strand of documentaries by Central Asian filmmakers.

Between June and September 2023, she served as a jury member for the European Commission project Support to EU Film Festivals, implemented by Cineuropa, Institut Français, and Goethe-Institut.

She is well experienced in the press and editorial work. In 2023, she worked as one of the editors at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) and as a freelance publicist at the Press Department of the International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film (DOK Leipzig). Find more information on her professional activities here.
