Sevara Pan is an Uzbek Koryo-saram writer and film critic working in the nonfiction field. Her work engages with the human condition, exploring the notions of displacement, memory, conflict, and justice.
In the documentary industry, she works as a Writer and Online Editor for documentary organisations (IDFA, DOK Leipzig), in Film Selection and Curation (Movies that Matter, independent screenings), and as a freelance Film Critic and Journalist (Modern Times Review, Cineuropa, Documentary Magazine). In 2023, she co-created the edition's film repository to support programming of the EU Film Festivals, organised by the EU delegations globally, as part of a European Commission project. She is based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Championing writing as a way of healing, she also pens flash creative nonfiction. As part of an independent book project, she currently recovers and documents stories from a Koryo-saram community in Uzbekistan.
